Haunted Field Of Screams: 8.75 Stars out of 10

Location: 10451 McKay Rd, Thornton, CO 80233

Summary: We haven’t been to Haunted Field of Screams for a few years and things have changed, in an amazing way!! Terrifying theme, great actors, and awesome scene setups all in one place! This is the only haunted house, in Colorado, that starts you off with a haunted wagon ride! We have missed this kind of spooky fun and loved being up front for all the spooks! From start to finish throughout the haunted attraction, there was the perfect mix of terror and creepy humor, leaving you uncomfortable the entire event.

Actors: (10 out of 10): Overall the actors were INCREDIBLE, we can’t really give any negative feedback about how they interacted or scared us. Right from the start as we walked towards the haunted wagon we were told “you will meet my 144 siblings” after being taunted about how “awful” we were at guessing. Once on the haunted wagon ride, actors created one-of-a-kind scares, creeping out of the corn, getting in and climbing all over the wagon. All the different lighting, distractions from the corn and jumping around the wagon was gut-wrenching. We were lucky enough to have Michael come out of the shadows and jump directly at us, not just once but twice!

Though there were so many bone chilling actors in multiple scenes and all throughout the corn, a few people need to be mentioned directly. When in the petrifying mausoleum the two actors were outstanding starting with the sister getting us say our names, then telling us she had a place for us on her wall. Her brother than called us by name spoke of all the ways he would dismember us and “strangle” us with our “intestines”. Actors in the Clown Asylum spoke of hanging us by our hair or keeping us as décor, while the mimes and other characters throughout the corn continued to separate us from each other created panic and anxiety. The makeup and the way all the clowns in the fun house moved around was outstanding and the dolls in the doll house was just creepy, especially the doll who said, “are you staying… we can play operation”.

Immersion: (7.5 out of 10): We knew we were in Riverdale Road with 144 siblings the entire haunted attraction. The village was a seamless scene but once we went back into the corn many of the mini scenes were segmented, very scary and interactive with sisters and brothers making uncomfortable and overwhelmed as we walked through, but did not necessarily connect. For example, a Doll House and a Slaughterhouse.

Props/Special Effects: (8 out of 10): The fun house was one of the best fun houses we have went to this year. First, it was so good we did not need to wear 3D glasses and still felt totally confused and disoriented, with clowns popping out of nowhere wearing crazy makeup that also looked 3D. The way they ended the fun house in darkness and smoke was confusing and overwhelming. The strobe light used throughout the attraction created scary effects making it easy for actors to interact with props to scare and overwhelm victims. They did a good job using container truck walls to make louder noise which created terror, we felt trapped in a space with a brother or sister at times making everything feel extra claustrophobic. The doll house was well done, creating rooms with dolls falling everywhere. The mausoleum had creepy effects used with light creating fear of being incinerated and the wall of corpses made our stomach sink as we walked by.

Customer Service: (10 out of 10) This haunted house demonstrated good customer service, being friendly and kind when we had questions or asked a staff member to take a photo of us with props. The manager and all staff/actors were welcoming and good at their jobs. They understood the rules of the haunted house and did a great job staying in character.

Scare Factor: (10 out of 10): This haunted house was terrifying and had our hearts racing from the moment we stepped on the haunted wagon until we walked out of the corn. There were many moments when our skin would start to crawl with a sudden sickening feeling and realize we were not alone, whether a doll was creeping up behind us, a scary clown wanted to take our hair, or a sister/brother wanted to keep us as a trophy. Actors were on their mark and the creepy walk through the corn just made everything feel more eerie! You can bet Haunt on Wheels will be back next year; are you brave enough to join us?

Entertainment and Value (7 out of 10): When you purchase a ticket you get access to the midway that has a market (be aware the market closes early), photo Ops, and food trucks. VIP tickets are $55 or General Admission for $45. Make sure you sit down on the bench with the little girl; you will be in for a treat!

As Always, Come Haunt with us!
