Sanctum Of Horror: 8.25 Stars out of 10 Stars
Location: 6525 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85206
Summary: Sanctum of Horror is a Smaller Haunted house, owned and run by Sean Kall for 14 years in Mesa Arizona. Don’t let the size of the haunted house stop you from going! This haunted house is creative, unique, and has something we have not seen in Colorado, a different theme! With two haunted houses, great actors, good make-up, and a unique theme, Haunt on Wheels was beyond impressed with what we saw.
Actors: (7.5 out of 10) It was obvious their actors wanted to come out and play with our bodies and drink our blood tonight! When waiting the very sort line to enter the haunted events, actors were out entertaining guests, willing to stop for photos, sang creepy songs, or just swayed in the night. When we came into the witches’ home, her and all her “loved one’s” were happy to sacrifice us. The actors were in good placements to create jump scares and made connection with us as we walked through their home to create a bone chilling moment. Two actors stood out above the rest, a bloody woman praising the first “beautiful” sacrifice made and the witch goddess herself who we approach as we left the haunted house. Though the actors were incredible there were not enough of them, many times we walked through areas alone waiting for the next scare.
Immersion: (10 out of 10): They stuck 100% to the theme in both of their haunted houses, this is so rear. Sanctum of Horror kept to the theme of victims walking to their final demise as a sacrifice to the Goddess witch. While the Breach was a Military Biohazard infection outbreak, this was a brand-new theme to us and was done spectacularly well!
Props/Special Effects: (6 out of 10): Both haunted houses were decorated really well, it is amazing what you can do with well placed props and good lighting… or better yet the lack of lighting. The darkness may have been one of the scariest parts of the night, feeling lost and turned around. With all of this in mind, the way Sanctum of Horror ended was incredible. We will not spoil it in this written review; you need to GO for yourself! That being said, to find yourself at the feet of your witch goddess ready to be sacrificed, terrifying!
Customer Service: (10 out of 10) This haunted house went over the top with customer service, being friendly, no matter where we were or what we were doing when on the grounds. The owner, staff and vendors were all incredibly welcoming and took time to talk to us, they even gave us a shirt to remember them because we were coming from another state.
Scare Factor: (6 out of 10): Though this was not the scariest haunted house we have been to, it had really engaged actors and two great themes. The use of darkness defiantly increased the fear factor making the evening much more eerie and blood chilling as we wandered through the haunted houses, never knowing what monster, diseased actor, or demon might jump out at us.
Entertainment and Value (10 out of 10). If you purchase your tickets during early bird, before October 2nd you can get them for $15 to go to both Haunted houses, that is insanely inexpensive and regular price is only $24.99. In addition to the two haunted houses, they also have fun photo opp with good lighting, quite a few vendors that include food, treats, crafts, and the opportunity to have a quality caricature done so you never forget the night! When you think of a fun night out for under $20 in this economy, that just does not seem possible anymore, well they made it possible. If you are in the Mesa area, come check the event out, you won’t regret it.
No matter where we go next, Come Haunt with us!
