2026 Frightmare Compound 9 out of 10 Stars

Location: 10798 Yukon St, Westminster, CO 80021

Spooky Tip From Josh Holder: Make sure and Check out the Floor of the Chapel, you will discover something terrifying Beneath your feet!

Summary: Colorado’s Oldest, Yes, we said OLDEST Haunted house, celebrating their 44th year scaring every person, ghost and demon willing to step foot onto their haunted ground. Truly haunted as Josh’s ancestor is buried somewhere onsite, adding a special kind of lore most haunted houses just can’t compete with. This family-owned experience brings horror to a higher standard as they come together unified to create a frightening night from start to finish whether at the main event, getting coffee with the Crypt Keeper, being buried alive or walking through a village infested with monsters.

Actors: (8 out of 10) It is obvious their actors are well tuned and have been training all year for this, they are ready to devour you, body and soul!! The jump scares were on point, and the unique sets created a bone chilling experiences leaving us wanting more. Monsters and actors shifted from eerie silence and dead stares to terrifying statements causing gut wrenching chills.

Immersion: (8 out of 10): Most of Frightmare Compound transported us to an old run-down town. When we stepped into the village we were surrounded by dust under our feet, aged wood, and monsters crawling out of the abandoned graveyard. Even when waiting in line for the haunted house, we read old newspapers, stepped into cages with aged wood, and saw all the belongings from people long ago. When in haunted ground, most everything looked from a time long ago. The illusion of this scary old town was somewhat taken away when we walked into a “60’s” dinner, it seemed of out of place… Scary, sure just not what we would expect with the theme.

Props/Special Effects: (9 out of 9) This haunted house brings terror to a new level. They have had 44 years to build, and it is obvious, they have used their time well! Every casket and coffin is real; this feature sets the tone for the entire experience. The chapel scene is one of our favorite parts of the haunted house it is just so freakin’ scary! First, you walk through a graveyard filled with REAL tombstones that depict names of people who really lived, talk about creepy. If you think you are safe, you are wrong, be ready for a bone chilling walk through a European chapel filled with Nuns from Hell. To name a few more specific effects, some well-placed speakers created as many jump scares as the actors did and the dynamite made us jump as much as it made us laugh!

Customer Service: (10 out of 10) This family-owned haunted house goes over the top with customer service, being friendly, no matter where you are or what you are doing when at the compound. Unlike other haunted houses that will charge you to take a photo, they set up photo ops in their museum and have family members available to take them. Everyone family member will take time out of their busy evening to discuss the history of the haunted house, talk music, or just discuss something scary with you, never acting like they need to be somewhere else.

Scare Factor: (9 out of 10) Frightmare Compound, never lets us down!! It was a blood chilling night from start to end! The nuns from hell were a thing of nightmares, all the actors were on their marks throughout the night creating perfect jump scares and though they did not physically come home with us the things they said will haunt us. Creatively placed speakers worked with well-placed monsters creating a sinister spine-chilling evening we won’t forget any time soon. Actor’s balanced staying hidden, following us to create more discomfort, and jumping out with long stares to ensure we never knew what was around the next corner.

Entertainment and Value (10 out of 10). This is the only haunted house we have ever been through multiple times where we have never run into other parties, they do an incredible job of keeping cost reasonable and ensure you will have an amazing personal experience in the haunted house, that is priceless in our opinion. In addition, if you shop at Costco, you can get two VIP tickets for $59, which increases the bang for your buck. They have something for everyone here, whether you want to shoot brains at zombies, be buried alive with a close friend (or not so close, we are not judging), or try to escape one of their 3 escape rooms. Honestly you could be here for hours, added this year, you can even get a coffee to keep you going through all that horror!

No matter what, Come Haunt with Us!!
