Anderson Farm Terror In The Corn 8.75 Stars out of 10

Location: 6728 County Rd 3 1/4, Erie, CO 80516
Our Overall Experience: Anderson Farm has always been one of our favorite places to go in the summer and fall. We normally get to the farm around 3pm so we can do everything! It gives us enough time to walk around and go through both mazes before Terror in The Corn. This haunted house is known as a “Congo line” haunt, so we recommend if you want a less crowded experience, always get VIP tickets and be there 20 minutes early. Bart Butler, the GM of Terror in the Corn, recommended, if you want a more personal experience with the monsters, come on opening weekend, specifically Thursday or Sunday. No matter when you come to the farm, we know everyone will have a wonderful time. The staff are super friendly at the farm if you normally don’t spend time doing other activities, we highly recommend you do everything next time!
Actor/Actor Costume (8.5 out of 10): The costumes are always remarkable, and this year was no exception! A huge part of what creates fear in any haunted house is the characters that are produced through outfits and makeup and will never be let down when you come to Terror in the Corn. Though there are plenty of actors and monsters, they can be a bit of a “Congo Line” haunted house, and often when things get congested the “scare” drops drastically, well this year when things got tight, a monster intervened. He invented an animated story that was engaging and held us up just long enough to create separation, and the spooks started up again. We must applaud the efforts as it greatly improved the experience. The pelt characters worked incredibly well together, drawing the focus from one to the other making us forget about other actors and animatronic to up the jump responses from everyone around us. It was obvious actors were energized and enthusiastic to take our souls, one of the best reasons to go to haunted houses early in the season! The doll island is always a super scary place to walk through, it is not huge, but the actors are always so creepy and ready to snatch you up as part of their treasures. The full moon played its own part tonight making the corn field extra eerie as the monsters crawled through the night.
Immersion: (9 of 10) Terror in the Corn transports you to Raven’s Gulch, a rustic abandoned town deep in a Corn Field. Get ready to get your feet dirty, your heart racing and your fear high as they take you deeper into the field where their towns are abandoned and their dead come out to play. Overall, the themes flow pretty well, each area you walk through, usually take you to a certain part of town, such as a tavern, the gypsy carts, human hide room, the burning village, the haunted mines or navigating the corn field that is filled with dolls and so much more.
Props/Special Effects: (8 out of 10) There have been some changes to the interactive props this year, some good and some hard to say goodbye too. The huge chain saw that flies out as you walk by, was bone chilling and creates a desire to run… then out comes a man with a chainsaw and well shit. This is just one example of how the actors interacted with the props making everything flow together so remarkably well. The maze is filled with creepy scarecrows so just when we thought we were looking at these amazing props something jumped out and your heart is racing a million miles an hour. Something to note is their swamp, we could see our feet and the actors hiding in the water, destroying any scare there could have been. We also missed the mad doctor scene; it was always filled with great actors and ended with a spinning barrel that made us dizzy and disoriented.
Customer Service: (10 out of 10): Anderson Farm always has many ticket booths open when you first arrive and have staff available all over the farm if you need anything. They have staff at the start of the non-haunted mazes and all the activities including keeping the fire pits lit throughout the night. The farm has bathrooms, mainly port-a-poties, multiple places on the grounds, with areas to wash your hands, they even have a washing station right by the petting zoo. The GM of Terror in the Corn and other staff members took time to talk to us during opening weekend and seemed genuinely interested in our feedback on this haunted house and about what got us into reviewing haunted houses in general.
Scare Factor (7 out of 10): We started out pretty spread out this year, which was awesome, but by the time we got into the field we were tight up against groups both in front and behind us, when this happens often it is difficult for monsters and actors to create a scary experience. Within about 10 minutes an actor separated the groups, so the scares started up again. They have made multiple changes throughout the haunted house that have made things more gut wrenching and creepy, but there where a couple scenes that were confusing such as walking through a “store” being asked if we wanted to buy a crockpot and other pans.
Entertainment and Value: (10 out of 10) When you purchase a Terror in a Corn ticket, you get a ticket to a full day experience. Anderson Farm is one of the best places to go if you want to spend hours immersed in fall activates! Nothing beats their fall fun; they are experts for sure! A farm with tons of family friendly actives, a pumpkin patch, two un-haunted mazes, a petting zoo, multiple food trucks, pumpkin launch, fire pits for rent, mini escape rooms, zombie paintball and so much more.
The farm has added a lot more this year, as soon as you walk in there are games made from refurbished farm equipment bringing joy to our hearts the moment we walked onto the grounds. They have been known for their beautiful photo opportunities, and this year they doubled maybe even tripled the experience for everyone! So many pumpkins piled on trucks, happy animals grazing, and of course the beautiful farm buildings everywhere!
The intoxicating smells of kettle corn and food drifting through air enticing all as they play and spend time with loved ones. No matter if you prefer a full BBQ or just enjoy some sweet treats, make sure to stop by and have Tom’s Coffee, and ask for Bryan. He knows his beverage cart and will make sure you leave happy with your order. When we stopped by for a coffee, he provided great information and even gave samples to ensure we got what we wanted. When it comes to entertainment for value, you definitely get more then you pay for with Anderson Farm.
As always, thank come Haunt with us
