Hellscream: 9.3 Stars out of 10

Location: 3021 N Hancock Ave Ste A, Colorado Springs, CO 80907
Summary: Hellscream normally is one of the scariest haunted houses we walk through each year, and we look forward to what will haunt us as we move through their grounds… This year was no exception; it was frightfully terrifying!! It was filled with horror from the moment we stumbled up to its gates until we ran out the last door. Upon entering the forsaken gates, I was marked by a zombie’s kiss, not the kind of kiss anyone really wants, we knew we were in for a deadly treat. Once we made it through the doors the real scares began!! This haunted house is worth the drive out to Colorado Springs wherever you are!
Actors: (10 out of 10): Overall the actors were INCREDIBLE, we couldn’t think of one actor to give a negative comment about. The use of airbrush for the makeup was outstanding making every monster, witch, demon and vampire far more realistic and terrifying. Actors used darkness so well in the haunted house, we could see some flashes of movement from the corner or our eyes, making us suspicion we were not alone, then when our emotions were heightened, an actor set in for the perfect jump scare. Though every actor was outstanding, we must make note of a few that kept us up at night due to their performance! One actor did an incredible job of following us throughout the entire haunted house, they had two forms, one known as Jonathan and the other known as Abigal. The Voodoo Queen cursed us goodnight and made us cringe as we departed to the underground. The mad scientist was terrifying as the Voodoo Queen warned he would be. The vampire was a perfect mix of seductive, humorous, and blood chilling to make the ballroom inviting, intoxicating and dreadful. Also, the creepy doll actor distorting her body, moving up and down walls, creating a mixture of fear and comic relief throughout multiple scenes in the house.
Immersion: (8 out of 10): We could tell they have worked hard in the last few years to create more bridges between rooms and scenes, and felt in general the haunted house was much more immersive in theme and how it transitioned from one room to the next. The Victorian theme has always been well understood overall.
Props/Special Effects: (9 out of 10): Superior special effects along with well-placed lighting, creative props, and incredible air brushed makeup created bone chilling moments with terrifying effects. It is hard to just name a few things we enjoyed about the haunted house because honestly this was one of the best haunted houses we have walked through to date! The way the mad scientist created fear with the laser beam was so creative and heart retching and then to round the corner and there he was again! The room of dissection was blood curdling as you walk in to find a body being torn into and realizing the actor is a real person screaming for their life! To dance through a room a vampires hoping you’re not the next victim, with fan blades slicing through the air… We could go on, but let’s leave some for you to find out when they haunt you during your visit!
Customer Service: (10 out of 10) This haunted house demonstrated incredible customer service, being friendly, at all times. The creative director, technical director and all staff/actors were incredibly welcoming and awesome at their jobs. They understood the rules of the haunted house and did a great job staying in character. They appeared genuinely interested in our feedback about our experience and we even heard them asking other victims as they left what their experience was like.
Scare Factor: (10 out of 10): This haunted house was freaken terrifying from start to finish. There were so many moments when our skin would start to crawl with a sudden sickening feeling and realize we were not alone, but we heard nothing other our own rasping breath… to turn and find a monster following us. Actors were on their mark and props were astonishing and realistic! We will come to this haunted house every year if it is like this!
Entertainment and Value (8.5 out of 10): When you purchase tickets together you get tickets for Hellscream and Fear Complex. If you want the VIP tickets it is only $66, this gives you access to both haunted houses with a shorter line, and you can enjoy the midway at fear complex. The technical director explained they put about five months into the midway and it was obvious; it is really cool and there is a ton that was not there before, defiantly worth checking out!
As Always, Come Haunt with us!
